The general public is all too well aware of the killer disease
AIDS and, to a lesser extent, hepatitis, but it may not be
appreciated that police officers, police surgeons, pathologists,
forensic scientists and court officials are exposed to certain
health risks from these diseases in performing their everyday
duties in criminal investigations. Because there is very real
concern in these professions, tempered with a desire not to
over-react or cause alarm, the Forensic Science Society chose
Health Hazards in Forensic Science-Present Risks from
AIDS or Hepatitis as the topic for its Spring Meeting held at
Harrogate, 25-26 April 1986.....
