CSI: Fun with Forensic Workshop for Kids this Monsoon!

The CSI: Fun With Forensics is a fun and exciting, hands-on, program that teaches children between the ages of 9- 14 the skills and methods used by forensics scientists, crime scene technicians and detectives to solve real (age-appropriate) crimes. Activities include: What does a Crime Scene Investigator do? Can you find the clues and solve the crime? This workshop will use real crime scene strategies such as: fingerprinting, shoeprints and teeth impression to crack the case. Participants will use their skills, knowledge and abilities as well as science and critical thinking to examine evidence left at the scene.		If you want to Register yourself. IFO Forensic Workshop FAQ's

Q. How early do I need to sign up for a workshop?

A. We prefer that you sign up for a workshop at least 2 weeks before the workshop starts. However, many of our workshops fill up months before they start, so the earlier the better, and please check the workshop page or call us at 9819288253 to make sure there is still space available. We will take registrations until the workshop is full, which at times is up until the start date of the workshop.

Q. What do I need to bring to a workshop?

A. IFO will provide you with any reading materials and/or multimedia supplies that the workshop requires. You will need to bring writing material for taking notes.

Q. Is lodging included in the workshop price?

A. Most IFO workshops do not include lodging in the price.

Q. What happens if I have to cancel a workshop once I’m registered?

A. If you cancel a workshop prior to the start date, 50% of your total fees is non-refundable.

Q. If I cannot attend a workshop for which I am registered, can I let someone else come in my place of that same workshop?

A. You may transfer your space to someone else. Transferring workshop sessions is only permitted 30 days in advance or more of the workshop start date. However, you will be charged a Rs100 as administrative fee. You must call the IFO office to complete the transfer prior to the workshop.

Q. What happens if there are not enough people registered for a workshop?

A. IFO reserves the right to cancel a workshop if there are not enough registrants two weeks before the workshop begins. If so, your fees will be refunded in full. IFO is not responsible for losses incurred on housing, travel or other arrangements.

Forensic Odontology

Forensic odontology or forensic dentistry is a branch of forensic science that deals with the handling, examination, and presentation of dental evidence in court. although each person is born with the same number and type of teeth, the dental pattern of each individual is unique.

Bite marks are a valuable type of impression evidence that can be used to identify or eliminate a suspect.

The work of a forensic odontologist covers:

• Identification of unknown human remains through dental records and assisting at the scene of a mass disaster
• Age estimations of both living and deceased persons including neo-natal remains
• Analysis of bite marks found on victims of attack
• Identification of bitemarks in other substances such as wood, leather and foodstuffs
• Analysis of weapon marks using the principles of bite mark analysis
• Presentation of bite and weapon mark evidence in court as an expert witness
• Assistance in building up a picture of lifestyle and diet at an archeological site.

The magazine was started because, essentially, we thought it would be a good idea to get young forensic minds come together and shout about forensic science. You can write your articles from any forensic discipline, and then edited by a core Forensic Magazine Editor Group. Students can chose what they write about based on their own interests, although we do offer some suggestions of topics that we think might be interesting.

We really would like to expand on the aspect of the magazine and reach out,to promote critical thinking and an interest in forensic science.
